The way to identify if you are growing a Peri-Peri type of Red Pepper (or not) is that all Peri-Peri Peppers grow pointing "UP", and all other types of Red Peppers grow drooping/hanging downward.

You know, tobasco peppers grow pointing up. I've always thought about using them, as I have many dried and stored. Great tasting pepper.

I plan to use dried and ground Tabasco Pepper in a deep fried chicken experiment whereby to see if they are the secret to the lingering bite. I'll be testing 'no ginger' at the same time. I'm now giving thought to splitting the recipe once I've blended it into the flour, and adding ginger to one half.

Good idea. The tabascos would ferment on the bush, which gave them an exotic taste. They were very juicy.
