We have been getting some hot/dry weather for a change here in Australia and i noticed my spices are smelling stronger, more "alive". in cold or humid weather they all seem to smell more dull and so is the cooking note.
I just looked up if Kentucky is hot or dry and it says "Kentucky is located in the middle of the United States, so summers are hot and dry" This weather would have served the Colonel well when he was experimenting with the recipe.
