The kick in (IMHO) Worcestshire sauce comes from the tamarind. I bought a block of it to try in other dishes, as in steak sauces, and maybe in KFC, but I never got around to using it. Old time steak sauces used it, but shifted to raisins as the years passed.

I think Tamarind is under rated item and has some great uses.
Love it on steak and BBQ sauce and Hamburgers
Need to try it on chicken
