Does ANYONE have a video clip or reference regarding a Colonel Sanders interview where he speaks openly about the 2 companies mixing the spices?
At our Function yesterday I had a OLD Man who referenced himself as seasoned over 90 years plus ?
In our conversation he reference HOW Great the Chicken and Ribs were we made.
I had mentioned the KFC background to our cooking and he referenced a interview he was aware of when C.H.S. spoke openly about the Two Spices companies and why it was done at two Locations. I have seen the one Video in 1977 where he said two locations were used. BUT it was NOT a detailed interview.
I inquired why he would have known that information and he advised He cooked at a K.F.C. Restaurant when he was very unseasoned and needing work. So the astute Grass Hopper I have become with questions asked what he tough was in the Original Receipt. The conversation Got very interesting BUT got interrupted with Real Work. I returned and exchanged contact numbers with the seasoned old veteran cook. He Did say that the Original Spice was Red with Green Flecks that were visible it was NOT powdered substance. Heavy Pepper and Sage content and the Green was NOT Sage Flecks.
He was very clear and vocal to say that the Spice and Herb mix was visual with flecks.
I invited the Man for Free Dinner today if he had time to continual the conversation as these wealth of knowledge are slowly disappearing

I have always assumed that any of Thyme, Marjoram, Oregano, Savory would NOT be the ground (powdered) version. But the dried/rubbed version. With the exception of multiple pepper grinds. All other ingredients were a fine ground/powdered version. Or at least early on they were. In my cooks these ingredients when included are not the ground version or ground with other ingredients.

I recall the Original or Pre-1975 there were definite more visible then post 1980's or late 1970's
I think the pulverized powder is more relevant when extracts were incorporated onto the carriers or Powders like Leveling agents sugar or other protein carriers and starches.
it's left to the visible Notice one sees in the mixes or even 99x
