Not sure where this is from, but it might be of interest. Also not sure what to think of it. It doesn't even include black pepper if you ask me.

That one has come from Overseas Japan or China is my understanding and just learning it may have been the same time the Canadian one was photographed but still trying to establish that story for existence.
its interesting similar trays just a different layout ?

The original recipe (circa 1939?) seems as if it likely had Paprika in it, particularly since Ken (on the other website) has a picture of a retail (take home) KFC original recipe chicken box that has a statement on it which boldly says (from memory): "One of the original spices is Paprika. What are the other 10?".
Lot's of reds there deepfriednew101. So many choices. Chili Pepper flakes? Cayenne? Paprika? Others? (and apparently used all at the same time)
If Grace's and the "Canadian Source" as seen on the final Glen and Friends video are close to the current recipe, then it bares no resemblance to the original recipe.

There is a possibility that both photos were taken at the same time and just distributed to Canada and Japan and or China The red is a more Original KFC and the later photos are more NEW age KFC many have said the Bag of KFC they have are more Green Grey now. which is true. compare the two images of Canada and the Overseas one plus Vials and the napkin it shows some similarities of certain spices in different plant and ground form

I think we are facing the same colour issue here. I for instance do not necessarily see a paprika-red powder here. These could easily be cinnamon or nutmeg as well. Some ground coriander I have seen also had a reddish colour. But it could be Ancho. Mine is as dark as ground coffee.
Also, doesn't "pepper" cover many varieties and could thus include black pepper, white pepper and even paprika and/or chili flakes? According to the Online Etymology Dictionary the term pepper was used to describe fruits of the unrelated capsicum family since the 16c, and this is still the case today (sweet 'pepper' or bell 'pepper'), not only in the English language. Just saying that even if paprika was in deed an original spice, it wouldn't have to be one of the 11, but rather one of the "peppers".
The Canadian picture however is incompatible with the napkin I'm afraid, as there is no Chili, Rosemary or Clove on the napkin. They cannot all be the missing 11th ingredient.

I agree Both area different. BUT if the Red was a Blended spice it can fit in one bottle.
The herb and spice may have been combined like CHS says

The napkin has 11 items look on both sides of the Number 9 there are two items its just the number 11 is on the opposite side of the Colonels head because of space for the number

The numbers were added by someone at a later point. Below is the original image. I don't know of any heart or v-shaped spice or herb. Only thing I could think of would be a very abstract sketch of Rosemary leaves, but I prefer to say it's actual hearts to symbolise the "love" the colonel put into the recipe or the special 11th ingredient. Cinnamon would be such a special and popular ingredient. Don't think you would make such an effort to hide lower impact spices such as clove, paprika or mace. But that is just my subjective opinion of course.

The heart shape are a spice and possibly a over exaggerated drawing but a representation of a spice or herb.
I agree that CHS put tons of love and hearts would be a very important ingredient
I only got the Napkin with a overlay with the numbers THANK YOU for the non numbered napkin
Rosemary is one that opens or does flourish like that once drying.
eastfrisian you have a great eye and ability like others to show the great points that will help so much. many of you have a great ability to bring out other photos and pic's which is great I can only show the basics with my skill set.
BUT I will defend and honor the Original KFC and methods used from the first way done. I will maintain you don't need a pressure cooker and deep fryer and skillet work Great jus more time. CHS said you can achieve the same Chicken either was BUT people do not have 30 minutes to wait for great chicken and you cannot do more in hopes they will sell. Fried chicken is a cook and serve item.
The reason the Bucket worked so well was the CHICKEN could come out at 300 degrees put in a bucket and then taken home while resting on the way home and served perfect temperature. It has been shown time and time again that the more you should rest the Chicken for the equal time that you deep fry it for a perfect eating temperature, otherwise the MOLTON hot oil it scalding and the juices don't settle.
