Mexican Tarragon is native to Mexico and Central America. The oldest Heinz Tarragon Vinegar ad I could find (rather quick research) was from 1936. I don't know if it was a shelf item tbh. Single tin availability is not a benchmark for me.
Let me give you an example. In Germany, MSG is in many products, literally on every grocery store shelf. However, you will not find a single German supermarket that sells pure MSG. Not even the hyper markets. Only Asian stores carry bags of pure MSG. I think it is similar in other European countries. Professionals and the industry use it, not home cooks.
So MSG is literally in every mouth here, and yet nowhere to be found. When folks in 100 yrs go by the same standards, they would come to the false conclusion that MSG was almost not existing in this country...

Response:
That one picture does not reflect the many looks that that kitchen may have had through the years. If it represents some statement of the essence of KFC, then it also is a "prop". No corroboration that it reflected any kind of truth.
You were not present when the photo was made, so your statement of knowledge is uncorroborated, and would not be admissible because it hasn't been authenticated, nor has a foundation been laid for its admission. Just mere conjecture, and probably some hearsay.
As for tarragon vinegar, which is not relevant, according to your own logic, the idea should be rejected unless you provide proof that it was on grocery shelves in the 1930s. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

All the above are 1930 - Early 1940's Have you noticed 2 of the 3 list Coriander Seeds. Plus many spice companies that include Coriander Seeds in their Poultry Seasoning, I think it is time to acknowledge Coriander Seeds were a thing in the 30s and 40s
